Hello everyone! A really great program that we at Sure Grip Racks are proud to be involved in is the WBL (Work Based Learning) Transition program. Work-based learning (WBL) is a proactive approach to bridging the gap between high school and high-demand, high-skill careers. Students build on classroom-based instruction to develop employability skills that prepare them for success in postsecondary education and future careers. The on-site training shows the kids that even though they may have issues with schoolwork, they can still go out, find jobs, and become successful and productive members of the community.
The two high school students that are with us currently are Jewell and Trey. They are two of the sweetest, silliest and eager kids I’ve ever met. Both of them always show up with positive attitudes, ready to work. Everyday when they come in, I have a different task set up and they always jump right in. So far, they’ve helped with everything from putting together hardware bags to building smaller assemblies like our 2116 90 deg. assembly, 2111 cam lock system and 2110 clamp assemblies. They’ve even helped to build some of our racks like the 6000 Double Gun Floor Rack and 2115 Single Gun/Bow Straight Mounts!
One thing that truly amazes me about the two of them is how well they adapt. Every day they come in and take a moment to analyze what it is they need to get done it. From there, they both are able to come up with their own system to get it done. I can honestly say I’ve met dozens of adults who don’t even have that skill!
Each week they improve by leaps and bounds. I’m so proud of the both of them and am honored that we get to have a hand in preparing and molding the next generation of Americas great work force. Thank you for everything you do Jewell and Trey!!!
